Hi. I’m Sarah Ceriati, a McTimoney Animal Chiropractor, Soft Tissue Therapist and Puppy Trainer & Coach. I have always had a love of and special connection with animals since I was young.

I studied BSc Animal Science at University and at 22, I turned my back on a career in retail management to pursue my passion and took a kennel job with Bridge House Boarding Kennels. That kennel also turned out to be the world renowned Switherland/Montravia show kennel where for the past 17 years I have lived dogs! I have learnt hands on whelping, rearing, socialising, training and grooming from the lifetime experience of Phil Freer and Marita Rodgers. During this time I also gained my dog training and dog training instructor qualifications, along with canine nutrition and started on my journey for holistic canine healthcare. The icing on the cake has been completing my MSc in Animal Manipulation (chiropractic), being able to get some more hands-on work with horses and other animals, but mainly seeing the massive difference I can make to so many aspects of an animals life.

What is McTimoney Chiropractic?

McTimoney Chiropractic is a holistic, whole body, treatment. I use only my hands to deliver the technique, applying high velocity (fast) and low amplitude (gentle) chiropractic adjustments to specific points on the vertebrae to restore balance to the musculoskeletal system.

I use a combination of chiropractic, massage, low level laser and red-light therapy for each session.

How does it work?

The spine is connected at one end to the head and the other to the pelvis. It is made up of individual vertebrae, each with their own range of motion, this is what gives the spine its flexibility and allows the dog to move around so easily. Sometimes these vertebrae can become stuck and unable to move as they should (we call these misalignments). This can have an effect all over the body causing tension in the muscles, restricting blood flow, preventing normal movement and preventing nerve signals from travelling to and from all parts of the body. My adjustments give the body the energy it needs to choose to reset these vertebrae, release the tension from the muscles and restore movement, blood and nerve function. Nothing is cracked or forced!

Who is it suitable for?

This treatment is suitable for virtually all dogs from puppies to elderly dogs to those with medical conditions or those with acute or chronic injuries as it is gentle, and each session is tailored to each individual dog.

Why might my dog need treatment?

Dogs lead active lives and sometimes they can cause themselves subtle injuries which can develop further over time. Running, twisting, jumping, slipping can all lead to misalignments.

Common signs that your dog may have misalignments and could benefit from a treatment:

  • Struggling to lie down or get up.
  • Stopped jumping onto furniture/ into the car.
  • Reluctant to go for walks or run.
  • Not wanting to play.
  • Changes in behaviour, more sleepy, snappy, aggressive.
  • Reluctant to have collar or harness put on.
  • Hair flicks.
  • Sitting leaning onto one side.
  • Looking stiff or sore.

I don’t just treat dogs; I also treat horses and in fact McTimoney Chiropractic is suitable for any animal with a spine including cats, rabbits, farm animals and exotics.
